Our greenfield investment project: Qazaq Soda

Qazaq Soda will produce soda ash for Central Asia and CIS regions

YILMADEN Holding continues to hunt for international opportunities and investments to strengthen its international presence and extend its product portfolio. With the strong entrepreneurial skillset and with a strong “can do” attitude, YILMADEN aims to make new investments in the fields of soda ash (Na2CO3) and its derivatives. Qazaq Soda, Synthetic Soda Ash Processing Plant, is located in Taraz, Kazakhstan, and the plant will start its operations in 2023.

Central Asia and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) countries have been selected as the target region. Qazaq Soda will stop the import of Kazakhstan, create a gate for export, utilize natural resources, and create direct employment of 250 people and indirect employment of around 1000 people. It will become a reliable soda ash supplier for sectors like glass, chemistry, detergent, and mining and open a way for additional investments. As it is the case for every entity in YILMADEN Holding, our target is to become a preeminent soda ash company in the world.

Qazaq Soda project has a capacity of 400,000 tons per year. In 2018, mine licenses were obtained in Qazaq Soda project, and feasibility, basic engineering and permitting processes were carried out. The master plan is based on 1,000,000 tons per year production capacity. In soda ash investments, YILMADEN will utilize its vast innovative technical know-how in. We aim to become the world leader in issues such as efficiency, quality, cost control, and environmental protection.

Yilmaden Holding inaugurated its presence in Kazakhstan with the acquisition of Voskhod Oriel Group – suppliers of one of the highest quality chrome ores in the world - in 2013. Since then, Yilmaden has solidified its presence in the region with exploration and soda ash investments, DTK Exploration Company and Qazaq Soda investments respectively. DTK Exploration Company is a joint venture, which explores chrome, gold, and copper in several regions.

We believe Kazakhstan will continue its journey into becoming a thriving economy powered by sustainable mining and exploration sectors. While growing among global leaders of the mining industry, we will continue to invest in Kazakhstan mining opportunities and maintain our good relations with the Kazakh society.
